Resources

Below is a list of helpful resources available for talk therapy, someone to talk to "after hours" should you have a difficult night and need someone to talk to but don't feel comfortable talking to someone you know (sometimes, talking to an unbiased, faceless voice on the other end of a keyboard or a phone receiver helps a person feel comfortable opening up without worrying about being on the receiving end of judgmental or clumsy statements).

  • Books by Phoenix Treanan Alaire - This link is to some workbooks to help you.  Whether you are trying to cope with anxiety, prioritize self-care, or need help with establishing a solid support system, Phoenix Treanan Alaire's books are an excellent resource. While this is in no way intended to replace a professional therapist, it can for sure be useful to implement in tandem with your sessions if you need it, or just to gift to someone who may need a helping hand, themselves.

  • Financial Abuse IS Abuse!  - Financial abuse is part of 98% of abusive relationships.  It is not as easy as it sounds to "just leave" if you are being harmed.  This is one of the biggest components of why abuse victims can't "just leave" their abusers.  Too often, financial abuse is not recognized for what it is:  A B U S E.  This guide highlights not only what financial abuse is, but it also goes over other things such as the warning signs of this type of abuse (and a way to see other signs of abuse happening), as well as ways to help someone who is being abused financially, and it offers helpful resources and more.  If you, yourself, are being abused financially, or you suspect is being abused financially (or in any other way, because abuse is abuse is abuse!), please, click on this resource, please, reach out to these wonderful people who want to help.  EVERYONE deserves to be safe, to thrive and to LIVE.  Existing and being in "survival mode" is NOT living.

  • Financial Stress  - In tandem with the above link, here is a resource to look over pertaining to the woes of financial stress.  When the budget is looking thin, this can take a huge toll on a person's overall mental health.  If you - or someone you know - is facing this type of situation, please, feel free to take a look at the information on this website, and don't be shy about asking for help.  People are there waiting to help you figure things out so you don't succumb to fears of not being able to take care of yourself or your family.

  • Navigating Your Finances After Catastrophic Injury - After any type of injury - regardless the cause - trying to get your feet back underneath you again can be incredibly difficult.  Especially when you are trying to start your life completely over again!  If you need a helping hand in this avenue of your journey, this is an excellent resource.  This company has well-educated individuals who can assist you with navigating the seemingly overwhelming territory of trying to get things back in order again.  You should never try to go it alone, reach out to this wonderful group of people!  They are based in the Dallas/Austin/Lake Charles, TX areas, and they are available 24/7 to reach out and see if they can help you.  A few specifics I'd like to highlight here:
      •   Day Care Abuse - Being a parent is difficult enough.  We want our children to be safe, comfortable, and healthy, able to grow up happy and live good lives.  But what happens when you send your small person to daycare so you, yourself, can go to work, to be able to give that child a good, well-rounded childhood, and that child is being harmed by trusted people who should be protecting your child whilst you're at work?
      • Nursing Home Abuse - Unfortunately, abuse isn't limited to children or domestic partners.  It is also a cruel thing that is inflicted upon the elderly and infirm.  These guys can help if your loved one is being abused in a nursing facility.
      • Hazing - It's, sadly, more commonplace than people may care to admit, but hazing is a thing that still takes place.  When parents send their children off to college, they hope their children have not only a productive, but fun, college experience.  If injured during hazing, these guys can look into what happened and proceed from there.
      • Hit-and-run and Pedestrian Injury- Never does a person think they might end up being hit by another vehicle and ends up injured from the accident, let alone having the perpetrator of the accident fleeing the scene, whilst the victim is left to not only wonder what has just happened, but also the fact that the person who has caused injury is nowhere to be found!
      • Dog bites - What if someone has allowed their known-to-be-violent dog loose?  What if this was deliberate?
  • Netcare Access  - I swear by these guys.  They're INCREDIBLY kind!  They are available 24/7.  And you don't have to be in Ohio to call them.

  • A.S.C.A. - Adult Survivours of Child Abuse
